At ActualMeds, great technology is only part of the story. The people who bring it to life are what truly set us apart.
That's why we're kicking off our Employee Spotlight Series with someone who brings deep clinical expertise and a genuine passion for our mission: Shayla Venkatesh, our Director of Clinical Services.
Shayla leads our team focused on Transition of Care and Chronic Disease Management, and her days are anything but routine. "My day is a mix of clinical work, collaboration, and platform building," she shares. "It's rewarding because the work is very tangible with direct patient impact across several states." That balance of patient care and strategic thinking is something she genuinely thrives on.
After years in traditional hospital and retail pharmacy settings, Shayla was looking for meaningful work that didn't come at the cost of her wellbeing. ActualMeds delivered on both fronts. "I can make a real difference in patients' lives and still have energy left for my family in the evenings," she says.
What's kept her here, though, goes beyond flexibility. She describes the culture at ActualMeds as a close-knit team with a shared sense of purpose and mutual respect. "There's a real sense of 'we're in this together.'"
One of Shayla's favorite parts of her role is participating in interdisciplinary team meetings where pharmacists, physicians, nurses, social workers, and care coordinators come together around the most complex, high-risk patients. "There's something powerful about collaboratively building a personalized care plan for a patient who is juggling multiple chronic conditions," she reflects. It is pharmacy practiced at its highest level, and it's the kind of impact that fuels her passion for the work.
Outside the office (or the virtual one!), Shayla is a devoted wife to her husband Kris, celebrating 20 years of marriage, and a proud mom to daughters Ansley and Ellis. When the family isn't cheering on the girls at their activities, they're happily planning their next travel adventure together.
We're so grateful to have Shayla on our team. Her clinical expertise, collaborative spirit, and deep alignment with our mission make her an invaluable part of what makes ActualMeds exceptional.
